they way I look at it is if you want 24's just skip to 24.5's..... they come stock on a 30,000 lb freightliner so they should be perfect for a 4500 lb ifs pickup

there is no benifit to oversized rims except young people like the way they look, there turning radius is ****.and the ride is like the flintstone mobile.no side meens no cushion. the rims dent easliy, which means they can vibrate and leak.I work for warranty companies that insure tires, and must will give the owners about an 1" leway in overall diameter. so if you put stock tire and rim next to aftermarket and it less that 1/2" taller or shorter you won't see much chage in performance. There is a reason why there is a placard on the door jam that list which size tire car be used on the vehicle. Thats what it was designed to use

I personally wouldn't do it. I would think that you would loose some of your manuverablitly when backing your boat. I also think there would be sidewall strength issues with any tires that you would purchase.

All the conversation is about rim diameter. What is important is tire diameter--easily done from the tire size. Larger diameter tires effectively reduce the rear axle ratio and reduce braking efficiency--neither a good idea for towing.

My explorer turns like a go-kart, just as well as the wifes mazda 3, because my setup is basically the same as stock. As long as you can still turn from stop to stop without rubbing it will have little effect on stock turning radius. Some vehicles turning radius just sucks to begin with. Again, if you stay with a 45 or bigger sidewall and QUALITY tires the ride isn't bad at all. My rims have been on going on 4 yrs now and only taken off for one winter. No dents, rash etc after 50,000 miles. It comes down to whether you take care of your stuff or not and whether you skimp on cheapazz rims.

You need to go back and read all the parts about keeping the OVERALL diameter the same as stock. It was mentioned a few times.

To the OP - I personally would stop at 22's just for price and convenience. You'll save alot of money but still have a nice looking ride.

Noone puts big rims on for performance, they do it for looks. It is no different than everyone blinging out their boats yet there are plenty of people here being uppity about putting nice rims on a truck, why? "Oh it looks stupid" well so does that $3K of chrome plastered all over your boat. It's all opinions.
