I am working on the transom I cleaned up all the holes , filled the top of the transom where I was forced to cut it away for removal. I tried teh proceedure outlined but not having any luck getting flakes thru the gun.

Don't know who Dale Whitman is, but in order to shoot metal flake it take about 50 to 55 pounds at the gun, thin mix, with a large tip.

Are you using large flakes or powder?
Do you have a link to his site, procedure?

And you dont put much flake in the clear, no more than a spoonfull or you will never get it out of the gun. You need to have a base under the flake that is close to the flake color also so you dont have to put so much flake on.

Hummm after talking with a professional painter that does a lot of custom motor cycle paint jobs he suggested that I may be looking for a bit more rounded flakes , not so square after looking deeply at the boat I feel he may be correct , did the base coat in silver metallic, and may have been a bit heavy with the flakes.
