I have two 2001 5.0L EFI Mercruisers, Bravo II raw water cooled engines on my houseboat. There are six blue plastic wing nuts on each motor to drain the water for winterization. The two on the block and the one in the cooler are a royal PITA to get to. Even the easier to reach ones are difficult to re-install and easy to cross thread. They are also very easy to drop in the hull and difficult to find.
Are there any other alternatives to these plugs? It would be nice to have petcocks like you have on auto radiators that you only have to open the valve then close it after it is empty.
I am guessing that there are no other alternatives since the blue wing nuts appear to have a strange looking thread but I thought I would ask.
