The electric/mechanical tilt motor inside the boat operates a long SS shaft that lifts the outdrive and unlocks the reverse lock. If the tilt motor is not moving, its possible for the reverse lock to permanently disengaged - the leg will bounce about and lift in reverse.<br /><br />The problem could be a worn tilt motor or siezed gears in the lift housing.<br /><br />Its can be complicated to repair, I suggest you get a manual. Parts for these are also becoming hard to find, but not impossible.<br /><br />Aldo
