Added to the above, I don't know the details of when it ended, but until very recently, carb'd 2 strokes were made by Johnson and Evinrude and were virtually (actually?) identical. The Evinrude name isn't going away, so I really doubt BRP won't stop supporting old 'Rudes and therefore old Johnsons.
One thing I wonder: Since it was the Evinrude Ficht debacle that lead to OMC going t!ts up, why, when BRP bought the company and came out with the new, improved DI technology, didn't they use the Johnson name and deep six the Evinrude name to get rid of the bad associations? Plus, at the time, I think Johnson had pretty good reputation because of it's successful 4 stroke line up?
