Re: any sirius radio users here?

I have had Sirius for 3 years now. Would never let it go! While I do not know about the units you posted, the deal seems reasonable. I bought my first unit, Kenwood Here2Anywhere for about the same money. I have base station in my office, living room the cars and the Motor home. I bought a second unit off Ebay 1 1/2 years ago and it said the subscription was paid. Well it is still going and I am now assuming it was a multi-year subscription.

Yes you can piggyback onto your BIL's subscription but the leagality is questionable at best. It runs me 12.00 per month.

Good luck and I am sure you will like it as much as I do. I mean Where else can you get "Alices Resturant" for 24 hours straight on Thanksgiving day?

well I ordered it after reading a ton of reviews last night and we are going to just pay the $20/month for 2 units on our own. I have a feeling if BIL got mad at us(he can be a jerk sometimes) he would shut us off. we have been listening to it on the net last night and today and so far love it.

I have sirius in two vehicles, my wife loves the 80's pop station, I can't seem to change from Blue Collar.

I have noticed that they have more and more advertisements. I am also aware that they arn't doing great financially. How bad are they doing?

One car came with the subscription paid for the first year, the other (Kenwood system) I bought a two year subscrition, seemed to be priced OK.

I will never go without it again, kinda like going from free TV to Dish Network.

Up in the north end of Vancover island sirius signel is better than XM. I have XM and love it but up here we have cbc or death for raidio stations. All in all (and ive lististen to both) the programing is close to the same.

My wife bought me a receiver and subscription for my birthday. A month later I went for the $6.99 / month offer and put a second unit in my boat.

The programming alternatives have something for our entire family to enjoy. Sirius has also obtained the NASCAR contract for 2007 so now I can fish and keep up on details of the races.

Re: any sirius radio users here?

Well we got the units quick from sirius and my wife told me to go ahead and install them because she was sick of the crappy reciption in the car. I hooked them up and was less than satisfied with the quality of sound ....lots of interferience. but remembered seeing on the circuit city web site adapters to hook them directly into the antenna so I ordered 2. installed them this weekend and now have crystal clear reception on any channel I want to use on the radios witch makes it nice when you turn it off you don't get static. there are so many choices to listen to and that is perfect for me because I tend to listen to everything from oldies to hard rock and country. I think Hair nation is my favorite that music sounds alot better now on a decent stereo than it did when I was a teen with the $20 radio and speakers in the rear deck propped against the rear window.:^

jimr, I got it for Christmas and did hook up with the unit you said and it works great. Thanks for the info. saved me alot of trial and error. Plus I got the boom box with it will the batteries last in it or do they run out fast? I did borrow a boom box from a friend before it was a older unit and in the boat it only ran about two hours and killed the batteries just wondering if the newer units last longer? Plus on my truck I set the antenna for satellite on the dash and not on the roof and it works great under the dash cover I put a big washer to hold the antenna so it would not slide around and ran the wire under the cover so you do not see any wire. Now I just have to figure out how to program everything and learn what stations are what.

I don't have the boom box so I don't know about batteries lasting. glad you like it. I have been listening to about everything but favorites so far are hair nation, blue collar and super shuffle.

My experience with the boombox and batteries has not been good or cheap.

Those things seem to eat them (batteries).

I use the boombox, mainly in the garage and If I do use it in the boat, I use an inverter with a 12V plug in. Be careful in the boat. The inverter and the boombox will quickly drain your battery.:^

Re: any sirius radio users here?

Thanks guys I think I will add a radio to the boat and run it off of it plus add extra battery this thing does take a lot of power to run. The boom box is great but will only run when I have power to run radio but I might try with batteries to power only mp3 player thru it and see how long the batteries will last that way. eight D batteries is not cheap!:% Thanks again for the help.....

well it has been a pin to install the car version on the boat. i took apart the cig adapter and hard wired it to a fuse. screwed down the "HEAD" in the cockpit (now just waiting for it rust). Reception is iffy, I am think all the other electronics is hurting me. Will try the anntena adapter. anybody see a water proof version for Sirius????

Re: any sirius radio users here?

Hi Jim. I had the Sirius one, and it crapped out so I sent for a replacement under warranty, and Sirius sent me the Starmate, as the Sirius one has been discontinued. I really love the Starmate, it is a great unit. I also have the Stilletto, which really works great too- I can stream off my wifi at home and listen to it as I work around the house. The only thing I recommend you do is get a direct hookup to your car stereo- I use the cassette tape adapter to do it in my cars. If that is unavailable, get a stereo with an input that you can plug into. It makes a huge difference over the FM transmitters. They are usually pretty bad reception, and you will hear the other stations coming through at some point. It is an awesome package when you are traveling, as you never have to surf for stations- you always have access to what you want.

My wife's unit crapped out a couple of weeks ago and they sent us another "1". I would rather have gotten the better unit. We use the adapter that I listed above that connects inline with the antenna and it works alot better than stock.

Kind of off topic but is this the radio you got?

I was just wondering if these ever get confused for radar detectors? Wouldn't be a problem here in NC but id say if you drove through VA with one of those bad boys there the state police would pull you over real quick!
