My tach isn't working. Can I use an auto part store tach or do I need to order one?
Part # 174985

Pretty sure it's the tach and not the regulator after doing a bypass trick I read about online for this charging system.

Click your user name drop down (top right)
Click USER SETTINGS from the dropdown
Click the ACCOUNT tab on the top of the screen that shows up.
About half-way down the page, you'll see a link that says Edit Post Signature

That part I can help ya' with :D

You need a tach made for outboards so that it has the proper setting to read correctly. An automotive tach would work right, and probably wouldn't be watertight.

TYPO: An automotive tach would NOT work right. (unable to edit post; what's up with that?)
