Looking to purchase a used Cobalt Boat....Need something to get into before buying a newer model.

I need to get hooked before making a larger purchase one day.

Deal? Lake is large and anything under 24 feet is debatable.

Thanks for any insight.

No such thing as a 496 5.7L. Are you sure it's not an 8.1L Duoprop? If it is a 5.7L run. The 25' Cobalt runs much better with the big block motor.

The 252 is a great boat and has a nice ride, The boat should have a 454 or 7.4 liter engine, if the boat has 5.7 it is way under powered. The 496 was not in production in 1999. I would really check out the wake board tower and where it mounts to the boat. unlike current Coblat, the boat was not made for a wake board tower and would have to be re-enforced at where the tower is attached.

Send the hull number to a Cobalt dealer and they can print out the original build sheet for you so that you can see exactly how it was delivered from the factory. Lots of experience with that vintage 252, GREAT boat. Must have the 454 for sure. Price seems a little steep unless really low hours and great condition.

I have a '99 252 with 454 DP. Fabulous all around rig. I paid less than 1/2 your price from a Cobalt dealer last summer. Mine need cosmetic work but only had 230 hrs. It is a big boat to tow. It is not much fun to go on a long trip. Loaded with fuel and a few toys it has to be 6000 lbs plus. We have a slip for this summer
