Any way for "tilt and trim" to be done without $500

I have a 74 Merc 85hp on a 15.5 foot glastron. It has "manual" trim. I'd love power but just isnt worth spending $500 on a hydro setup.

Anyone know of any manual setup of some kind that's easier than muscling the motor up.

I winch of some kind would work and allow the motor to tilt up on its own if I hit something, but not really sure of any way to mount it out of the way.

Any ideas?

You want something to lift the motor at rest or underway.

At rest they make a lever that goes on top the motor that helps you lift it , under way no, the force on the motor is just too much, I really don't think you could come up with anything that could over come the force of the motor and not break it.

You might consider adding a CMC Tilt Trim unit. I was amazed at the difference have this unit made to my 16' Starcraft Deep V. Hole shot and getting on plane is much faster and the top speed increased as well. I paid right at $559.99 + Shipping.

I found a good used complete PTT unit complete WITH a parts motor for $200.

Keep your eyes open and you can find a deal. I wouldn't mess with a DIY approach.
