Deputy City Mayor sent out a corporate wide email stating that today will be normal hours. I'm dying....anybody else stuck?

I'm here 'til 5. It's always an amazing thing to me. Us peons get no attention, don't share any limelight, don't get any reognition for what we do and don't get any kudos from the bosses, but who do you think stays late for the holidays? The company would come to a screeching halt if we didn't show up, yet we're the lowest paid in the company. Ain't that the truth? <br /><br />OK, I'm done with the rant. I have 3 more hours or so and then I'm off until January 3rd so I guess I can't complain too much. <br /><br />Merry Christmas all! <br /><br />UFM82

Hey AZ..<br /><br />What type of shift rotation do you guys use. My buddy is an Acting Captain and says they are going to 24 hr shifts in the new year. They are concerned as to how effective they will be in their 20th hour after a night of calls. Mind you they will end up being on shift one week a month.<br /><br />I think I just hijacked my own thread......

Waiting for 3 to roll around. Working 10 hours on Christmas day as well. At least the Chief was by a bit ago wishing everyone a Happy Holiday before he left. The TV is broken so Christmas is going to be a long day.

i wished i worked from home like SBN <br /><br />i wouldn't mind sitting at a pc, in my pj's, and calling one of my peons up on the 2way to direct their next delivery... <br /><br />but i don't know if that is as much fun as sitting at this desk til 6pm, then sitting in gridlock for another hr...

Everyone here is aching to go home "early" today too. I don't get it. It's just another Friday for Pete's sake. It's not Christmas Eve!<br /><br />I'm in upper management and myself and all my co-workers are staying too.

yeah I dont get it either....why would anyone want to go home early to get on the road if they are traveling or get things ready at home if Christmas celebrations are at their place, or finish shopping etc. Hint of sarcasm.

I'm retired. Work for myself at the shop. Closed early today and will only be open half a day tomorrow.<br /><br />I like this retired way of life......

Burning my vacation for year....<br /><br />Off Thur and Fri last week,<br />Wed Thur Fri this week<br /><br />Have to work tue and wed next week, then off till the 3rd <br /><br />I had to work 10 days this december!!!

Man I did it backwards! Just hate it when I do that.<br />Finished up yesterday and slept in this morning. <br />Spent most of the mornig getting the smoker set up and the turkey in it.<br />Now I only have 3 hours to clean the van, pick up<br />sandwiches and put some soup on for dinner at 5pm.<br /><br />Then the rest of the evening will be driving my wife, her sister and mom around looking at Christmas lights.<br />Yes this has been planned for some time now.<br /><br />Arrrrrrrrrrg<br />What wasn't planned is while typing my little Gloat here. I just got a phone call.<br />So it looks like I'm working tomorrow and maybe Sunday <br /><br />That what ya get for Gloating!

I'm waiting for 3:30 PM Tuesday, so I can get off call and off work. I hate being on call during the holidays. <br /><br />I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas
