Anybody from the Gainseville, Fl. area?

We are moving to the Gainesville area in Feb. and I was wondering if anybody down there could tell me a little about the fishing in the area.........I will have use of a nice little cottage on the suanee sp? river but Im interested in maybe some surf fishing too.........Well if it has fins I want to catch it.........I lived in Lacrosse Wis. for years and got used to fishing whenever I had time and being there was water everywhere it was easy......Spent the last 3+ yrs here in Springfield and havent gone more then 3-4 times a year and never caught much so Im getting pretty stoked about the move.............

fishing the suwannee, "way down upon the Suwannee River" by Steven Foster, can be really great, panfish, bream, shellcracker, bluegill. speckle pearch (crappie) and bass fishing. you will be pretty much in the center of the state so the Gulf and Atlantic and easily driveable. there are many, many lakes in the area to fish.

Is there still a drought going on down there......I had heard some lakes are not accessable anymore?

it really depends on the area, some are down, some not effected, springs.

the suwannee, rises and fall with rail fall, and floods. keep your stuff high and dry.
