The rear well on my Grumman fisherman is pretty wide. From the top edge of the transom to the front of the seat is near 30". It's quite a reach when it's time to reach back and manipulate everything to stow the motor. The Newport-X series 55# motor I have runs fine but it's just a brutal task to stow and unstow. It's at the point that I don't even want to deploy it anymore. At 66' I need something easier.
I see Minn Kota has had a Traxxis model that is designed for easier stow. Despite this motor being available for near 10 years, I can find very little on it. I also have to wonder that if the stowage system is better, why don't they use it on their Riptide series? So before I invest, I'm wondering if anyone have any experience to share on any of the Traxxis motors? Any input appreciated.
