Anybody here that eats pork might want too keep tabs on where where this crap is headed.

<<May 15 (AP) ? Roughly 56,000 pigs that were fed contaminated pet food scraps are safe to be eaten, the Agriculture Department said Tuesday. The decision permits the pigs to be slaughtered for human consumption. They had been held off the market in seven states: California, Illinois, Kansas, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah.>>

<<The pigs? feed included scraps from pet food made using an imported Chinese ingredient later found to have been tainted by the industrial chemical melamine and related compounds.>>

<<While those chemicals proved lethal to an unknown number of dogs and cats fed tainted pet food, the contaminants were diluted enough when mixed into farm animal feed that they posed no risk to pigs or the people who eat them.
About 80,000 birds fed contaminated feed at poultry farms are still held off the market in Indiana. >>

This should be a huge wakeup call to Americans but because the FDA/Gov. says it's OK, we still consume.
They have been wrong too many times before.

Anybody that is interested in what goes in there food might want to give there Senators, an E-mail /letter on this bill, its not conservative, or liberal, it?s a matter of what goes into the food that you eat.

I?ve already contacted my Senator Claire McCaskill, she is supporting it ,at least that is what here spokesperson says.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...0&ct=result&cd=1&q=Senator+McCaskill+&spell=1

<<"(The amendment) deals with pet food. But it doesn't stop there because this contamination didn't stop with pet food. It ended up moving into feed lots" and into poultry and hog farms, Durbin said. "We are na?ve to believe that any problem in the pet food population can't make it into the human process.">>

<<"When we sit down to a snack, we rely on a system of checks and balances that goes on behind the scenes that we are unaware of until something goes wrong," Enzi said. "Only then are we aware of the food safety system's importance.">>

I worked in a super market in high school. You don't want to know what happens to your food during late night hours. The meat department, bakery, "fresh" fruits and veggies all have problems.

The Government, FDA or whoever, could not hire enough people or spend enough money to watch every aspect of our food.

The only way to control what you eat is to grow everything you yourself. Other than that, make sure it is cooked good and enjoy the meal.

Connect the dots here folks. This is just another way for the liberals to further their big government agenda. Don't be surprised when your tax dollars are wasted on over-regulated agriculture and a government ran resort to pamper the affected livestock for the rest of their days. :D

hey i386, feel free to ignore all warnings and eat all the pork or anything else you would like. Simple fix for you. When there is "normal" priced pork and the "special" discounted pork, go ahead and stick it to the man...buy that discount stuff. Darn liberal conspiracists.

"connect the dots here folks" :):):):)

I believe there may be a bit of an infringement here Boom.

Carol fixed a wonderfull dinner of eggs, toast and bacon tonight. Sometimes, we like to have "breakfast" for dinner, and a pork chops for breakfast.
We have pork chops in the fridge, and plan on having them for dinner tomorrow night. If y'all do not hear from me Friday, you'll know I died of "mad pig"" disease. :D

If I worried about eating all the stuff I'm instructed to worry about eating, I woul;d've died years ago from ulcers.

I agree 12, eat what you are confortable eating. There is no conspiracy by anybody unless we all buy into it.

I can say though, if I was told the pork I just bought was fed melamine, I would not eat it.

Bottom line is you probably reduced your lifespan more by worrying about eating it than just eating it in the first place.

I quit eating pork when it came to me that it smells like pig sheet when cooking it.

They fed it to chickens and fish also. Soy beans and corn are geneticaly altered too. I guess red meat is the only thing safe to eat.

Aren't most farmers considered conservatives? WHEW LORD who can we trust now?

Re: Anybody here that eats pork might want too....

This is just a scam perpetrated by Big Beef to drive the price of their product up. Wake up!!!

I don't know if Farmer John is nationwide, but there is a huge stockyard, butchering facility thing basically in downtown L.A. I used to deliver parts near there almost every day. Anyway, there is a big fence around the whole place with a mural of little farm boys chasing pigs around. The pigs are playing in the mud, and the boys are smiling, and everybody is happy. La ti da and skip to m' Lou. All I could think about was how different the scene inside actually was . . . BTW, I just enjoyed a really good salad with Prosciutto ham though  yum.
