Looks like something out of a Mel Gibson Mad Max movie! :D

No, seriously, I have no opinion on it. Just happened to have watched Mad Max tonight. I miss Mel Gibson with his Australian accent.

I hope one of your countrymen can help you.

Tinkerer, what you have there is an all Aussie made legend. I'd be surprised if any made it over to Boomyals' fair country but ya never know.

Swiftcraft 14ft dart (from memory) usually came with a big straight black merc which made the boat very rear heavy.

They look very much like a Pride and maybe the two companys were in cahoots - dunno. Swiftcraft are still being made today but that model your looking at finished many, many moons ago.

Boomyal, which Mad Max, 1, 2 or 3?

Aldo

Like maybe a psychiatrist specialising in bad taste correction?

I know it's bit different but that is a boat that just begs to be brought back to life. It stirs the restoration juices in me like my current boat doesn't.

I just wish it was a bit longer. The boat, that is. :D

Aldo

Thanks for that.

No risk of a Merc on it if I get one.

Can't get anything on internet searches, which just makes me even more interested.

In my dreams this boat needs to be behind an orange or red XY GTHO. Was it made about the same late 60's early 70's era?

Doesn't look too practical in some ways. Stepping over the sides off the dock ain't easy. Grabbing a cleat on the dock from the steering position ain't too easy either (I'm usually alone).

On the other hand the sides are higher than the next generation of boats so I'm not likely to fall out of it.

The big thing is that it just looks right, but about a foot too short.

Something far back in the cobweb filled recesses of my brain the words 'Pride Cheetah' appears. Try that in your search - then again, maybe I need to visit your shrink

Aldo

Aldo

Thanks again.

Your cobewebs might be thinner than you think.

Hard to tell as it's from a very different angle to the photo in the link in my first post, but this Pride Cheetah could well be the same hull with a different topdeck which is a more modern version of the first one.

http://www.blakesmarine.com.au/usedboats.asp?offset=-1

Some other interesting items came up under Pride Cheetah searches but I don't think they're for marine use, unless the Marines use them:

Rachels Pride Cheetah Blindfold Cheetah Skin Print Blindfold - Only £17.50 (Includes VAT): Rachels Pride is a new stylish range that uses animal skin prints to make your bedroom accessories fashionable as well as fun. This cheetah skin blindfold is fur lined for maximum comfort and guarnatees no peeping!

Rachels Pride Cheetah Captivating Cuffs Cheetah Skin Print Cuffs - Only £20.99 (Includes VAT)
Rachels Pride Cheetah Skin Whip Cheetah Skin Print Leather Whip - Only £29.95 (Includes VAT)

But maybe these paddles could be used on a boat:

Rachels Pride Cheetah Paddle; Skin Leather Paddle - Only £20.00 (Includes VAT)

Cheers and thanks again.

well its sold now, but it isn't quite the same as the pride cheetah, the cheetah didn't have a windscreen and top sides like that. the sides were flat untill it reached the windscreen. I have a few pics in a mag of the cheetah, will try and put one up, if it's worth it.

Nope, not the same. The upward raking gunwale must have triggered the cobwebs into action.

Aldo

Lark

Thanks, but there's no need for the pix. It's the Dart I'm interested in.

That is one cool retro looking speedboat. What is 600 AU in US? At any rate, it should be a lot cheaper to operate than a longer one with bigger motor.

Re: Anybody know anything about this ?early? model Swiftcraft?

I've found out a bit more.

It seems it's a SwiftCraft Stiletto Model SR made in the 70's.

I've actually gone off it a bit since I've seen a pic of one in the water.

mypic31.jpg

The lines are wrong. Judged from the windscreen position, it's too stubby in the rear and too long in the front. My original impression that it needs another foot or two is reinforced. I need to see one in the flesh to decide.

On the other hand the Pride Cheetah might have better lines.

mypic32.jpg

Or maybe it doesn't look too good in the water, either.

For interest, here's the current ads that go with the pix.

Stiletto :SWIFTCRAFT SKI BOAT, Mercury 85HP, Elec trim, repainted, retrimmed, Bimini, bilge pump, rebuilt Brooker tilt trailer with Ford alloys. Includes Safety gear. Top speed 40MPH. Recently serviced. Ready to ski, EC. $5,750ono

Cheetah: SKI BOAT PRIDE Cheetah, CD player, cloth trim, Back to back seats, St/steel wakeboard/ski-pole, Dunbier trailer, spare wheel, 80HP oil injected Yamaha, SS prop, safety gear, engine/travel cover, low hrs, immaculate, $8500ono

They just make my $600 boat, with maybe another grand I've put in it, look even more desirable.
