anybody live in central TN?

family and i are looking into moving to knoxville TN, as a opening has come up with our compnay. (wifey and i both work for post office)

anyways..... weve been there many times since being married, been there 9 times in 8 years, including on our honeymoon, always l;iked it there.

houses are very afordable , at least compared to here, tampa area.

seems like a normal 3 bed, 2 bath 1 car house can be had for 50k to 75K, thats about a 4th of what it is here. its what it used to be 10 years ago here. family and i live with my wifes mom. we physically can not afford to buy a home here, and we both make 18$ an hour ! even with home prices going down, insurance rates are skyrocketing, and thats is you can even get coverage!

will anybody be willing to tell me roundabout what home owners insruance is for that area? here its about 10k a year for new policies.

im just curious . anybody wanna share?

Dammit!... Everybody wants to move up in them there hills now....... :| I can see where in a couple more years i'm gonna have no choice but to have to get out too....

Yankees (not that Mike's a yankee) done all come down here and screwed up the place and filled in the swamps, now they wanna go...

Maybe, just maybe, i'll stay put........ :/

With all these houses and condos on an already sautrated market, the bubbles gonna pop... It has too... Every other house on any street in this town has a FOR SALE sign in the front yard... 200-300K+ for a 3/2 fixer-upper in the wrong part of town (i know, i live in teh wrong part)...... :}

Property taxes, Insurance.. E-GAD MAN!....

Yep... Throw in a nasty hurricane or two... I'll be buying for pennies on the dollar.... Insurance companies might even pay me to take em'..... 8)

I live 3 hrs south of knoxville but been there many times,its a great place,im not for sure about the homeowners insurance but i bet its alot cheaper than that,in my region here i think its about 1200 -2000 a year.im on escroll so i cant tell ya right off the bat.the mountains up there are beatiful but nowere near as nice as here i have the comberlain mountains around me and lots of rolling hills anfd plenty of lakes.dboatbouy is right down the road from knoxville maybe he has some insite.

I live in Knox. 3 br, 2.5 bath basement rancher - homeowners is about $1,000/yr. w/State Farm. If you work for the USPS, you'll probably be at Weisegarber Rd. facility which is W. Knoxville. Home prices may be a little higher there and homeowner's ins. is tied to house value.

Mike,

I used to live in Middle Tennessee (Franklin just outside of Nashville). I still have a farm there, my insurance was about 900 per year when I had a house there.

We'll have to meet up here in TB before you take-off and do some boating.

What are you doing with all your boating gear?

Knoxville is in East-Tn. BoatBuoy is right.I live twenty miles south of Knox.Fort Loudon Lake-Tn.River runs through Knoxville.Take a boat all way to ocean by water.
