Anybody recognize this boat?

I know it is around a 1976, 16ft, and has an 85HP Mercury. Thats about it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. The picture looks like it has some kind of a tag on the rear corner of the boat. What does that state?

I don't believe it is the manufacturer- the gentleman who wants to trade it says there are no distinguishing marks on it. I haven't seen it first hand yet, but it looks like it might be fun fixing it up.

I'll take a wild eyed guess, it appears to have the design of a "Winner" the flat windsheild, and "squarish" lines were part of Winner's trademark.

If it doesn't have any distinguishing marks, for example an HIN, how will you register it?

if it newer than a 72, it'll have a hin........

i have a 72 boat w/o a hin..... it was registered under the block number..... not the serial as there was none. guess it was a replacement truck engine.....

That, actually, was my next question. He says he got the boat from his uncle, who doesn't have the title. They supposedly "sent off for a new title"? Is this even possible? I'm not all that familiar with boat registration. Any help?

Man that flat windshield is something though! I have never seen a windshield likt that before. Imagine getting a blast of sun glare off of that baby! WOW that would blind a guy! It looks like the windshield came off of that back of a camper of something! But looks like a fun boat to restore. Good luck finding out the type and manufac.

Depends on the state.

Well really i think that it is going to be the same kind of boat in another state then it is in whatever state its in now. Like, if it is a winner boat, then even in another state it will still be a winner boat. Just a thought.

I'd want the title in front of me and ready to transfer before I traded. You won't have much fun in a cool old boat that you can't use! Was it registered previously in KY? You may be able to call your DNR or Fish and Game or whatever they call it in KY and check it out with the HIN and/or motor serial number (since it's an OB)...

Yes it's been registered- I can see the number on the side. I haven't tried to track it down yet, though.

Here's some pics of a 1970 Winner Cobra, the lines are similar for those years, but your windshield is funky, maybe it was a homemade replacement, other then this I haven't a clue?

That's the closest i've seen. I haven't seen the boat in person yet- it's been all email and internet. We've had snow and ice for the past two days in central ky- i've gotten the bug to restore a boat and it's killing me to not be able to go check it out. Thanks to the info I've gotten from this forum, I sent him the diagram to decipher the HIN number on the boat- hopefully soon I will have more info. Then I'll get to bug you all about fixing her up.
