Anybody run a distribution box?

Does anybody on here run a juntion box for all their light wires? I know I could splice the side markers into the existing line, but wouldn’t having each wire go directly to a universal point be better in the long rub? I feel having all connections above and out of the water and in a dry place would be the best . Grounds and all.

hello,
there are many advantages to using a junction box. old fords have used them for decades. service is one advantage, dryness is another. i like them.

Certainly nothing wrong with that and in fact it is a good way to go. However, make sure you have an appropriate box. I believe the one you show has one input and a the rest of the terminals are common to it. Not what you want for trailer wiring. Each terminal needs to be independant of the others.

The only problem I can see with one is if you mount it where it gets "dunked" water could get into it and be trapped.

Other than that I have used them on trucks and trailers for years with excellent results.

apparently each one is seperate per etrailer. Its also suppose to have a water tight sealed case that screws on top. I may try it out with the new LED setup.

I use boxes just like that quite a bit when rewiring semi trailers, and heavy equipment. They are great for giving me a place to disconnect and test the wiring. Also a good place to branch of wiring from (1 wire feeding several wires, its hard to splice 6 or 7 wires into one feed wire any other way). But, I would never mount one where it would go under water, they are not sealed that well and once the water got in it would have a hard time getting out.
