Anyone Chat on Messenger or other Programs

I love the Dockside Chat area, don't get me wrong but does anyone live chat elsewhere, say MSN Messenger or others? I would love to be able to go in to a live chat and talk with other boaters. Just throwing this out there?

i have been on yahoo before and would chat with
other boaters on yahoo if there was people on yahoo

maybe 7 yrs ago, we had a chat room and time that fit both coasts, we could do that again? I believe we did it every Sunday night 7 pm PST, was really fun, and you would use your microphone and all was real time

Only chat I use now, is Google Talk.

I used to chat a lot during the MSN chat days, but quit. I was spending waaaaaaaaaaay too much time doing it!

Never got a virus from Facebook.
But then again, I only have friends and family. Plus I ignore message, links, and game requests. It's all about how you use it.. If you click everything everyone tells you to, then yes you will get a virus. But then again you can get a virus just as easy from your email.

Skype is fun every once in a while, talked with hvac cruiser once.
Would like to try and do a multiple party conversation (group).

Im on Yahoo. I talk to one other member from here once in a while. Theres the option to show your yahoo "active" in the profile setup.

I have also gotten a few random IM's asking for help or specific pictures of something on my boat because of the yahoo link that shows up under the user location. I dont mind, im always glad to help if i can.

Skype is a member to member only calling ..

For this year, Google calls to landlines are free, according to one source. After that, it's up in the air as to what it will cost. The first year or so Skype was also free, but now it's 36 bucks a year for unlimited US and Canada long distance. My phones have it built in, and 3 bucks a month is no biggie. Long distance landline calls do eventually cost somebody money, so expect Google to recoup it sometime, somehow.
