Charlie, when I had the inboard diesel, every 2 months or so I would run some white vinegar into the system and let it sit for as long as overnight. When started again, you could see lots of white scale being ejected. The vinegar is cheap. Might be worth a try. Granpa

crazy charlie,
Why ??????
Are you having Overheating Problems ????????
Believe it or not, a slight rust coating will Protect the Base Metal(Cast Iron) from rusting Faster......
Unless you're having overheat Problems, Leave it Alone....

Bondo,I am not overheating. But the boat is new to me this year and 1 motor is running a little warmer than the other.Only 10-15 degrees and i have changed man&risers, circ pump, impeller.thought it may need a slight cleanup.I found a survey from 1999 and it sighted the difference in temps,so it has been that way for a while.Charlie
