Getting ready to head to the Church for our Christmas Eve service. Work on tomorrows meals when we get home ... and after a little "Christmas" time with just the immediate family. Tomorrow all the aunts and uncles, cousins, neices, nephews, friends, neighbors, and enemies come!;)

Chillin is the word for it. Started snowing about 9 o'clock last night and hasn't stopped. Looks like about 8 or so inches here. some places in central Iowa had that much aorunnd noon. Plenty of booze and food on hand so it's manageable.

Had the house full of descendants this past weekend. We had a grand time.

I am still too far from recovered to go out anywhere and they are all fully occupied with health care jobs and their own descendants so I will hang out here and enjoy peace and solitude.

My best wishes to all iboaters and your families for a wonderful day.

Going to head over to my sisters house, have not seen her for a year now and going to finally meet the new grand niece, bottle of single malt just waiting to be cracked, now if I could figure out how to avoid that darned lasagna! that she makes every year, all would be good!

Yep, my GF is here and we're just chilling and watching TV and movies. We finished watching the biography of Santa Claus. Very sweet.

She's never seen any of the Toy Story flicks, so we just started the first one. We'll see at least the first 2 tonight. The 3rd one is on PPV, so we'll either watch that tonight or tomorrow.

My daughter lives in Philly and was down for Thanksgiving, so she's back up in the great white north now.

Tomorrow morning I'm actually going hunting again. Heh heh.

Not a big family here...all the wifes relatives are in Canada. Only my brother, son and daughter. No grand kids..:(

We'll be having some neighbors and close friends along with the kids tomorrow. plan on deep frying a turkey and baking a glazed spiral cut ham.

Canadians eat LOTS of veggies with their turkey, both at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Plan on having turnips, carrots, potatoes, giblet dressing and giblet gravy (gotta have a little Southern twang in there someplace!), mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, fresh string beans cooked in bacon fat and lots of desserts.

Gonna be laid back and casual. Temps will be hitting low 70's.

Going fishin next Monday to the middlegrounds..110 miles out!..

To one and all...Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Oh, chillen in spades Heinz....in absolute spades!! Love this evening...always.
We have the music on low, the tree lit, a nice glass of shiraz going and we have a couple of minor things to wrap....and thats it.
For dinner tonight we will be doing a bit of a minor buffet/snack style thing with some lox, pickled herring, smoked oysters, french loaf, various veggies and dips, etc. Then what we don't eat hits the fridge for snacks over the next few days.:)
I took a break this afternoon to go see my father who is in a nursing home and spend some time with him. I made him some home made cinnamon buns which he loves and we got him a couple of simple things for Christmas morning gifts. He is not very mobile right now and its pretty hard for him to get out. Still it was good to see him and spend some time with him.
Overall.....a great day, easy, fun and some good spirit happening.
However....that will all change.....on boxing day, when the IIHF World Junior Tournament kicks off. Then its every man (or team) for himself!!!!:D
Merry Christmas to all...and to all a good night!!!:);)

Re: Anyone else just chillin at home toniight?

I'm having the best Christmas in years.

For the only the third time in 34 yrs. I'm not traveling six hrs. to the frozen
winter wonderland of Chicago.

I no longer have to deal with Mom and Dad, who became difficult in their
last years.

The gf and I are just chillin, watching the snow fall, eating king crab
legs, drinking egg nog and dreaming about our blast to the caribbean
one week from tonight.

It's all good. :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

Re: Anyone else just chillin at home toniight?

We went out and made our once a year visit to church tonight and then went and had pizza (and a few drinks) at Old Chicago... we've been doing this since we've been married. Its snowed a couple inches, but that didn't stop us. :)

Tomorrow we get to run an hour to my parents for lunch and then another hour away to my inlaws for dinner.... gonna be a long day.
