Decided removing and storing drive in garage for winter is best solution for me.

Built this stand in about an hour, measured to fit so that I pull prop off, slide stand in, trim drive down, unbolt her and she slides right off the back of the boat. Zero lifting......................... What a back saver this was.... Total cost was almost zip, except for the dolly I had lying around, but that cost less than 20 at the H Depot store a few years ago. Drive Stand 3.JPGDrive Stand 1.JPGDrive Stand 2.JPG

Nice purpose built stand. I never removed my drive for storage, but I know a few that do. Make sure you cover the opening well enough to keep critters out. Hate to see your bellows become a romper room for the mice.

I removed mine every year. As far as covering the hole, cardboard and duct tape is all you really need. But there is an actual fitted, gasketed, bolt-on plastic cover available for Mercruisers. I got mine on Overton's, but I'll bet you could find it right here on iboats.

Also made a "blank off cover" out of a piece of Lexan I had laying around and secured it with the 6 drive studs with spacers onto the bell housing. Had to add a couple of couplings over oil fitting and shift cable for clearance and to seal them up too. No critters getting in there........

They make the covers for Alpha's for under 20, but not made the Bravo's. That would be a marketable item.
