Anyone ever try a Fly High Monkey Bar?

I have been looking for an inexpensive tower, or alternative to a tower, for quite some time. I found a Fly High Monkey Bar Tower for $100 complete. If you don't know what that is, it is like a role bar with the cable running forward like an extended pylon instead of a set of legs going back to the boat like a regular tower.

I have an 88 Four Winns 160 Freedome that I pull the wakeboard with from the water ski attachment. The boat is small so I don't want a big tower on it anyway.

The question I have is, will the tower be solid? Obviously I would probably have to beef up the boat where I attach it, but I also don't want it flexing around and cracking up the fiberglass.

I appreciate any direction.

i added a tower to my 87 supra, it can be done. before the tower i used a pole. i haven't ridden behind one of the roll cages. the price sounds right though. i think it would work provided you take care with backing plates. the cable that goes to the bow to stabilize it gets old but it's not hard to step over it.

We have the flyhigh pole that extends the standard one with the cable system and is well made

Well, since the price was hard to beat I went ahead and did it.

The thing was complete and in great shape. It was missing the backing plates so I e-mailed them at Barefoot International and they said 1/4" Aluminum plate was suffecient. I made them about 24" long to help disperse the torque.

My 11 year old and I installed it Saturday afternoon and we gave it a try Sunday. It works great. If I were paying the $600, I think I would go with a regular $600 tower. Since this was $100 it was well worth it. It is probably worth $300 or so for that matter.

Thanks for the thoughts, Jim
