Agree with Skargo, Why?

As to the claims of better thrust.
A properly designed shroud will give better thrust (at least in the air) than one without. But that doesnt look like one of those.
I have seen a basket style for use when skiing or something like that. But common sence and shutting the engine off will cover that also.

I read all the way through the site which gives all the data etc, I don't see the advantage of having one for any reason other that keeping something out of the prop. Around here a lot of people use a simple prop guard to keep the steel downrigger wire or fishing line out of the prop.
It would have to be awfully cheap before I would throw money away buying one. Then one has to do a lot of drilling on the motor.

I have seen boaters use a metal prop guard on thier kicker motors when they fish the local rivers but other than that I don't see the advantage.

LOL is for sure. lots of people run a simple hoop around the prop on their trolling motor to keep out downrigger lines,I do ,it works. Now as for increased thrust, tugboats use a venturie type setup called a Kort nozzle, it will increase thrust about 15-20% if I remember correctly :D

Personally wouldn't use it, just posted to see if anyone had and what was the outcome, purely being curious!

The father invented that.
Now the son is trying to piggy-back with this device.

As Bifflefan suggested, I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the concepts of a ducted fan or shrouded thrust. However, in the applications I've seen there are additional blades involved and unique shapes. NASA did considerable research with scimitar blades and ducted fans. If you look at some of the lates technology ships, they do in fact use a combination of multiple (more than 4) bladed props and the ducted fan principle.

The concept isn't that far fetched.

To me it seems if you did touch the bottom with it, it would do more damage. I'm picturing the shroud folding back and giving the propeller something harder than a muddy bottom to fight with. I know I have touched bottom lightly before and only had very minor abrasions to the prop. I don't think that would be the case if you had that device mounted.

I sent an inquiry and they were fast responding with a print out on pricing. Definitely pricey for what you get, told thanks for the response but I would not be customer. They start around $150 + shipping.
