...speaking of the yacht world, this is an interesting piece of yachting indulgence.:)
Not my style...probably because I don't have much. Shows some very innovative thinking tho' and it definitely should be part of the next James Bond movie.
Check it out....pretty cool...and fast for a 118' yacht, although I wouldn't want to be the guy filling it at the end of the trip.

Too much trouble. It won't fit in the driveway.

Abstract indeed! Looks like it shoulda been in a James Bond movie. I'd like to see it performing in rough water. Those side air intakes look like they would swamp the boat.

I agree, Wize. The side intakes would become water intake in any kind of serious weather. My guess is that they can be closed - the boat has 3, 5,600 shaft hp turbines in it, and a pair of 370 hp diesels. The procedure is probably to shut down the turbines, close the intakes, and run off of the diesels when the weather gets rough.

Personally, I think the thing is butt ugly. If someone gave it to me, I would sell it immediately, buy a 26 foot Whaler, and feed Ethiopia for ten years on the proceeds.

I thought the same thing about those intakes...definitely doesn't look like a blue water boat to me. I believe the entire thing is heavy on European-Italian design, sort of like a 118' handbag. So that makes it more prototype than production I suppose. Its appears to be one of those types of yachts that cruises the Mediterranean zipping from port to port delivering the rich to their next function....."the finest caviar, the a-list parties and of course....hair by Wally Yacht".;)
Still, this kind of design and engineering generally starts something design wise somewhere else that will use or incorporate one of the cool little gizmos or design elements but in a more functional way I suppose.
