Re: anyone from missouri?

Been to most of them. Lake of the Ozarks is great if you like a busy lake with places to eat and drink. Gets kinda scary on the weekends during the summer. You'll need a bigger boat though.

Table Rock is a winner. Plenty to do in the Branson area and the lake itself is fine for water sports. Clear water and plenty of places to stay.

Mark Twain is a good fishing lake and quiet for the most part. It can get busy during the weekends but not allot of big boats to contend with.

Norfork lake is great! Clear water, not much of a crowd but it's a bit of a drive so your looking at a 3-4 day weekend to make it worth the trip. Good family place but not much to do after the sun goes down.

Bullshoals. Don't go! It's the worst lake in the USA. Dirty, party animals all over the place, rough water, bugs etc. Really, in my opinion, this lake is one of the best in the country but don't go; it's all mine! It's also a 4-5 hour trip from St. Louis.

Pommy is a decent lake but it's kinda small. Same with Stocktone but both are great for fishing and are a bit closer than the above.

Hope that helps, if you want details let me know. Been there, done that!

I kinda prefer the smaller lakes they usually have smaller boats, I've been on lake of the ozarks too many big boats especially around bagnell dam. I like a lake where i can camp at the waters edge and just pull my boat up on the shore. Does stockton lake only have the one marina? Never been on that lake, is there much difference between there and pomme?

Lake of the Ozarks ranks #3 on the most dangerous bodies of water in the US. I wouldn't go there in anything smaller than a battleship.

Where I have been in the last 2 years:
Parts of Bull Shoals are nice, but a pain to get to. Pretty crazy roads.

Pomme isn't bad, but is pretty small. I definitely was NOT impressed with their camp sites.

Stockton is nice, but can be rough on windy days in a small boat (under 16'). Nice camp sites and good fishing. Again not a really big lake, but decent. I hit there at least once or twice a month throughout the summer. Check out Crabtree Cove, Ruark Bluff or Cedar Ridge.

Table Rock is nice, but busy up around Branson and Kimberling City. I usually stay down around Shell Knob and Eagle Rock areas. Plenty of lake to enjoy, good coves to hang out in, good fishing, and excellent camp sites. Most of the boaters in the areas I go are locals who own their boats as opposed to rentals around Branson and Kimberling. Makes for more courteous boaters. Again, I hit there once or twice a month throughout the summer. Check Campbell Point or Kings River areas.

I'd like to hit Truman sometime. Haven't been there so couldn't tell you anything about it...

I have never camped at table rock, are there campsites on the water and can you beach your boat at the campgrounds?

Hey all, I know it's an old thread but Truman is a great lake! however, there are quite a few trees up in the creek arms. I usually fish up around the little osage arm and it's not busy at all. Norfork is my nearest lake, and i love it. Great fishing, cliff jumping, and water sports. Bull Shoals is a great GREAT small mouth and kentucky bass lake. Table Rock is somewhat busy during the summer. and Lots of big boats. Stockton is a gem of a find, it is smaller, but well worth it for just a quick get away. HOpe this helps.

I like most all of the Big lakes in MO. If you are looking for a smaller lake to enjoy some decent fishing and pleasant times Wappapella is a pretty nice place. It's around 100 mi from St. Louis and has some nice access points.

I'm from O'Fallon, MO. I boat mostly the upper mississippi aka "alton pool 26" It's pretty nice imo. you can't get any better than a 15 minute drive! However I love the LOZ, it does get really busy though, not quite as bad around mm 35+. I plan on making a trip to tablerock once or twice this summer, I used to go as a kid and have great memories there. I had a friend 2 years ago that was in the middle of lake wappepello, he dove off and broke his neck in two places.. I don't think I'll be going there.

We'll be down around Shell Knob/Campbell Point. Ordered the last parts I need for my boat here today. I'm definitely ready for some lake time!

Awesome.... I'll be running around that area, and over by Kimberling city.

Beautiful Baja Cory. My boat is a little bit smaller (17.5'), a little bit slower (3.0L), but I'll bet ya you use almost as much gas to hit the ignition as I do to cruise for an hour. LOL

I don't have a pic on this laptop to post, but my boat is tan and blue with Fabuglas on the sides. Most of the time I have an American flag flying off the stern. We'll watch for you, and if you see us stop and say hi. We hang out around the Big Bay arm most of the time, unless we cruise down to Viola or Eagle Rock.

Hey Cory. It was great meeting a fellow iboater! My wife got sick Sunday so we ended up heading home early. As soon as she's back on her feet we'll get the pics off her camera and e-mail them to ya.
