Re: anyone have any expierence with these

Just a thought or two:

1) The top pic of the open fisherman was a bit blurry, but I don't thing it was long exposure. Look at the second pic. Just as bright and no blur at all. Those lights are just bright as heck. BUT...the boat is in clear water and that's the biggest faactor. Stick a LED dive light in the same water and it's just as bright. Put those lights in the St. Johns River in FL and we're talking a nice, muddy looking haze. Much like lighting up a glass of iced tea.

2) LED's (as long as they're waterproof) can be mounted with 2700 or any other 3M-type product to the transom and the wires run through an existing hole. Follow the wires from your transducer inboard.

3) Would exterior rope lighting work in a rub rail? The diameter is about the same and you can get 12v powered lights. I guess if you're a little rough on the docking, it might shorten the life of the light a bit, though:redface:

Those light do look cool, though, Especially on a bigger boat at a dock party!:D

I agree it is too much money. Just thought it was a cool idea. I would like some though. Just not at that price.
I have looked at the Oznim lights too. They are more reasonbly priced.

Fireman. Where is that on the Saint Johns. We are planning a trip starting in about Lake george and then ending up in St. Augustine. We have a place there that we go to. But we really want to explore your area. I have never been on that river.

I would not go with that light. The photos they sent you are overexposed to make the light look MUCH brighter than it actually is. It says it draws less than 1 amp which means it's, at best, a 12 watt light. That is not enough, especially since you're only using one. I have four 18 watt lights on my transom and I would like to add two more. I think you would be disappointed with the end result, especially compared to how they advertise the light.

This company>> http://www.abysslite.com/ has the best, economical, lights on the market in my opinion. Their surface mount lights require only a 1/8th" hole and 3 or 4 (depending) screw holes. Pricey, but cheaper than their competitors and worth the cost if you're into night boating. The kids love 'em.

that is a really cool idea but not worth 300 for them. I plan on doing interior red lights this summer and if I have time I want to do something under the swim deck. I havent came up with anything for the swim deck. Im sure it will be alot of research invovled:D

The only way that light would be cost effective if it came with a Hooker that spent the night with you until you turned the bulb off around daybreak :D

Did anyone ask how many hours that bulb lasts and how much  a replacement bulb is?

Stubbs...sorry for the delayed response, but I didn't see your post until today.

I'm moored in Lake Monroe. That's pretty near the head waters of the St. Johns, roughly 4 hours south of Lake George.

Best of luck on your trip from there to St. Augustine. I have made the round trip 3 times and it has been a blast every time. I take 2 days to do it. Slow, easy cruise is the most fun. Spend the night on the hook near where the ICW and the St. Johns meet and the half day trip from there to St. Augustine.

I have stayed at the Conch House and at the Municipal Marina. The marina is the closest to the fun and Old Town, but if you haven't gone in there yet, check your tides. Go in at either high or low tide. If you go in during an incoming tide, you will fight a 7 knot cross current. I got pinned against a dock during one and had to wait 3 hours before the tide was eased up enough to ge the boat out. It was embarrassing for me, but the dockmaster said it happens every day! You would think that if it was a constant problem, they would advise their incoming boats to wait until slack tide. Or, go to the south end of the marina...it shouldn't bee too bad there.

When are you going to make the trip?

SAVE your money. That is not only STUPID looking, but definitley something you can live with out. There are lot better products out there for way less. I can see that being very dangerous....

Fireman. We are not sure exactly when we are going to do it possibly around the Fourth of July weekend, Ending up in St. A For the fireworks display.
We rent a slip just across the bay from the municipa; marina, at the hotel at the end of the Bridge of Lions. Done quite a bit of boating around ST A. We have a family condo there.

We are pretty excited about a long trip in the boat. All our other boats have been questionable on making distance runs. We have a friend that lives on the St Johns just south of the merge between the ICW and the river. tie upo there for the night and then go on to St. Augustine the following day.
