I was in the market for a fishfinder/ GPS unit, and came across this unit on clearance. The original cost was $465.00 They had marked the unit down to $320.00 and only had one left. I bought it with the understanding that I could bring it back within 30 days if I didnt like it. ANy of you guys have any experience with this unit, is it a good one?? What are the pros and cons? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bill

Bill
Both units very simular. Both have same size screens and the same power. Both Have 375 watts RMS or 3000 peak to peak power. Thats good to see fish out to about 150 feet of salt water with the standard 20 degree transducer. Both have a 12 channel GPS reciver and WAAS.
The LMS 320 has a higher resulution so it could see smaller fish in deep water and draw a little more detailed picture. The LMS 320 has a little more detailed base map than the LMS 240.
The LMS 240 has a man over board function, the LMS 320 does not.

The LMS 320DF has Dual frequency (200/50) which is good for deep salt water.

Both units are good units.

Would like to add that the company really stands behind thier products also. After about 2 years my friends just quit. We talked to a rep at the next boat show and he gave us a number to call.
The company not only fixed it for FREE
They also paid for the shipping (Both ways)
Gets better:
When he got it back there was a new manual in the box.. with a note that they had upgraded it to the latest version..and better yet they were honest letting him know it was faster and easier to just upgrade it.
my .02 on them

I believe the 240 is out of production? No big deal...

Heck of a deal. $320 is [was] a great price. I'd have jumped on it in a heart beat.

BTW. The LMS 320 does have a man overboard function. :)

That's no doubt. I had the bright idea of setting it one day for the first time to mark some fish. It went off all day because i had forgot how to turn it off. You have to go into the waypoints to delete it.
I've been looking at the Navionics chip but, i havent met anyone that's purchased one.

I noticed another irrgularity in the lowrance specks chart. "speed and distance log" comes standard on the 320 not optional...

Think it might be time to update their site? :D

Old Jarhead,
Let me know how ya like it.
I have a hard time trying to justify spending 200 on it. It's not needed for the type of bay fishing i do but, it would make for a cool toy on the slow days.
