Hey guys. I am buying my first boat tommorow and am very excited. However, I can't find any information on it anywhere. I looked up the engine code all I could find was it was a onc outdrive which was used in 1979 for a 200hp motor. It looks to be a chevy v8 with 200 on the valve covers with a 2bbl carb. I dont know if its a 305 or 350 at first glance. I paced it out and looked to be 18? It is not a cuddy cabin, i guess it is called a bowrider? As you can tell I dont know too much about boats yet. My only experience that lends itself to this boat is that i have built a few chevy v8's through the years.
Basically I came across this boat and trailer for $400. The trailer looks great and the boat needs a paint job and a good clean, but is not really in that bad of shape at all. The only structural thing I see it needing a few wooden peices that are rotten (engine cover, ski locker cover)but most of the boat appears to be fiberglass. So any info you guys can lend to the boat I would be glad to soak up. Hope im getting a good deal!

Thanks alot guys!

Before you hand over any money check the floor and under it for rotten wood, if the there's rotten wood above the floor, I can't imagine there not being more under it. The transom will most likely also be in bad shape, so check everything very carefully. Any rotten wood under the floor means this will be a major project and you won't be using the boat this year.

There should be foam under the floor, if the foam is wet, the wood stringers and everything around the foam will either be rotten, or well on it's way.

You may not be able to easily find parts for an old OMC outdrive, I'm an outboard guy, so I don't have any more info on it for you than that.
