I just found a boat for sale that is a 1973 marlin scorpian runabout with a 135 evinrude. It looks to be 15 to 18 feet. Anyone know about this kind of boat? Any info???

Im also wondering if this hull desighn can go through waves better? Most of the other boats Ive looked at kinda look like bass boats..

ID# SPRMD3230773
Thanks

Never heard of the boat. The 135 is probably original to it. Could be a real good motor.

It doesn't look like the one in this ad for Marlin, c. 1972. Yours is typical of many of the "California Ski Boats" of the era. The one in the ad is likely a splash of a Sidewinder, also of that late 1960s/early 1970s era.

Yes, I bought a new marlin scorpian in Redding CA in 1973. It was a 16' blue and silver metal flake with a 115 hp Johnson on it. It sat on a EZ loader hugger trailer with chrome wheels and baby moon hubcaps with bearing buddies. It was a great boat and we put a lot of skiing hours on it. I just sold it this summer after I purchased a 2005 Crownline 216 LS.

Here is another picture if you're interested. A guy from White Bear Lake in Mn. came out to Washington to purchase it.

wow finally thanks for the pics. I was starting to think mine was the only one left. Im working on getting mine to look like the one you had. I have a couple questions if you dont mind. What size fuel tank and where was it located? Was your throttle in between your seats?

I just got mine not to long ago. Its my first boat and I love it so far.

Thanks very much for the pics. Ive ooked everywhere and have found no info on this boat. Have any interior pics?

The boat had two 6 gallon fuel tanks in the back behind the cushion. The battery sat between the six gallon tanks. The throttle was in between the seats. I have a lot of pictures I took when the boat was for sale however the file size on most of them are too large to post on this site.

Awsome. THANKS I really like the blue. Mine has a 19 gallon tank up front, do you know if some came like that? Also mine has a evinrude motor and throttle assembly. Have you seen any others like that? How was the ride when the water was choppy?

The dash right behind the stearing wheel on mine is a bit diffrent its flat and I only have tachometer.

Yours was a 1973 also?
