Anyone heard of Avenger Boats?

I am looking at buying a 23ft center console Avenger. It looks alot like the scarab. The owner thinks that the boats use to be made around New Oreans La, but they stop manf. after Katrina. Anyone have one? Heard of them? Are they any good? I you do have one or seen them what are they worth.

Yes, Clements, I've heard and seen quite a few down here in Louisiana. We call them "Bay" boats, for fishing all the shallow bays around here. Didn't realize they were manufactured down here. Like a lot of other boats of this type, I believe they were not "lined" hulls. No inner liner. Basically, a thicker, single hull. They were all the rage mid 1990's onward. I've seen both center and dual consoles w/windshields. If taken care of, they should last a long time. Little to no wood to worry about. Good luck !!!

I am also from la. Actually new orleans. This really dozen strike me as a bay boat. A friend of mine has a bay champ 24ft and thr hull design, shape, lines, and gunnels Are quite different. The only thing I can find are dual consoles but on center consoles made by avenger. This boat looks alot like the scarab center console hull but in a smaller 23ft version.

Yep! They were more of skiff type than bass or bay boat. I thought there was an Avenger room here on iboats, but, I cant seem to find it @ the moment.

Now that you mention it, I believe I've seen one in a boating magazine test w/ a 300 hp. E-tech. They showed it w/ a full transom and motor bracket. You're right, had the same lines as a Fountain, or Scarab 23' cc. It looked like it was made to handle some off-shore duty.

Thats exactly what it looks like. It currently has a 2002 Evinrude Ficht 150. The guy says it has over 100 hours and has no problems. As far as i have read once they are over a 100 hours and even more so over 200 hours if the engine hasnt had any "major" problems it will be ok with minimal routine maintenance. I have found 100's of posts about how the engines are so bad but also found many about how much people love them. I also read that the main problem ficht models were from 97-99 and by 2000 they were a little better. With all of that being said i was going to re-power it anyway with either a 225-275 four stroke or 2 stroke (Yamaha). Upgrade the stereo, new VHF and possibly a GPS. The boat has a Stainless marine transom bracket, trim tabs, leaning post, new aluminum I beam trailer and a T Top. The hull will be re gel coated with a Medium or navy blue and a fresh coat of white on the bottom. I know everyone is going to say that gel is going to cost an arm and a leg but i have a buddy that is a Master Marine Mechanic and he owes me a few. The boat will essentially be new except for the hull and T Top.

What would it be worth to someone?

I ball barked it with him and he said around 13-14 but that was sight unseen and a "good deal" type number. Something that would turn over quickly. What are yall thoughts???

Just don't count on selling the Ficht. I've heard they are practically worthless, even if from the 'better' years.
