Re: Anyone here drag race or collect cars?
My next project will be a 84-93 Mustang with an LS/twin turbo/glide setup. The car is light, the motor makes the power and the glide for a smooth ride.
I have a 1948 Chevy 3100 5-window, a 1953 Chevy 3600 3-window and a 1973 opel GT along with a 2000 Audi A4 Avant daily driver.
used to drag race the opel with a 3.8 liter buick in it. It was only a 12 second car.
I love the Opel's. There is in Macon with a 400sb in it and the guy had a lil Kia SUV with a 512 in it. Crazy fells but fun to hang out with.
1996 local track champion checking in here. Got knocked out first round in the Division 3 finals....by a kid in his dad's just-shy-of-Pro Stock car.
We race mostly Mopars. 69 Coronet R/T (sold), 68 'Cuda (certified as being built by Mr Norm himself, car won the 68 Winternationals SS/A), 64 Polara (for sale), front engine dragster with a slant 6 (sold), 60-something Belvidere (sold), 30-something Anglia (sold), 38 Plymouth with a straight axle of course, geez...must be forgetting a few...I've raced my Jeep, parent's minivan, Dad raced MC class on a street legal pit bike, made a pass in the firetruck one time when we were setting up for the year versus the ambulance (I used to do safety safari)...sure I'm missing a few still.
I haven't been to a track since 05 and haven't raced since 02. Going back would be akin to taking an alcoholic to a bar. Not a good idea.
Man I miss it...
Oh yeah, delay boxes are for cheaters.
Sounds like you had some fun... Agreed on the delay boxes!
I love Mopar's but can't afford to keep the parts around for them.
Thats picking em up and laying em down. Nice pass. Used to do some racing when I was younger but got away from it as the kids got older. Now I`m getting the bug again, not sure which direction I want to go yet. Boats or cars. Been toying with the idea of a flatty with a ls motor. But then I have a built 400 sbc in the garage just sitting there waiting for something to drop it in.
Oh well, headed out this afternoon to Frankenmuth for the big car show, maybe that will get the ideas flowing.
