So here is one out of left feild.... One of the issues is that cam driven water pump... Would it be possable to adapt a belt driven pump to it??? Just a thought. I am thinking you fix the water pump cam seal, you got the bigger late model exchanger, you will pretty much take care of the chance of a head sealing issue. Add a belt driven alt, and you pretty much fixed all the bugs.

Remember back in the 80's when GM thought that you can take a 350 engine, off the shelf, bump the compression ratio up to 18:1 and turn it into a diesel engine? Somewhere, there is someone who had one of these "engines" and never had a problem with it. Will tell you today, "Best engine I ever had!"
In reality, the problems were in the design of the engine. Fixing the problems required redesigning the engine. GM found out it was cheaper to scrape it than redesign it.
