I saw an ad for one once in a boat magazine. I planned on buying one, but lost the ad.

info here:
http://www.snuba.com/about_snuba.asp

Snuba divers breathe underwater by means of a 20 foot air line which is connected to a standard scuba tank. The tank is mounted on a raft on the surface that follows your every movement. The airline allows you to tour underwater near the bottom, at mid-water or on the surface depending on your level of comfort. There is no heavy diving gear. Every Snuba tour is guided by a diving professional. Your guide will familiarize you with the Snuba equipment you will be using and briefly describe what you can expect in the water.

Ideas where I could buy one of these systems for personal use?

Couldn't find a retail sales outlet, but it seems limited at only 20' depth, which means a really limited amount of movement latterly.

How about the Brownie third lung? Depths to 90 feet with up to 3 divers. And it's available on the retail market.

They would both have the same downside as their respective float system would be affected by the water and wind movement/motion. Be irritating with a strong current running.

Would have longer bottom times and a lot less equipment to carry and deal with. Might be good on a lobstering/spearfishing trip in good weather.

I dont plan on using that floating raft, I was just going to strap it into my boat.
But 20 feet.... yeah that isnt very much. After it comes out of the boat and into the water Ive probably already lost 6 feet.

Brownie third lung? Ill google it

Hopefully you have diving certification if you are planning on doing 90 foot dives.

^^^^+1 Pretty foolish to do a 90 foot dive with a SNUBA if that's even possible.

Why not just get certified diving. I never understood the SNUBA thing anyway.

I keep a Brownie third lung onboard a large boat. It sits in the cockpit and runs off 110V. Works great for cleaning the bottom and inspecting running gear. We also use it for spearfinging dinner and lobster. I only use 30 feet of hose and have been recommended not to venture beyond that. I will not let anyone use it unless certified.

^^^^^ Diving is by no means rocket science, but even at 20 feet you can run into enough problems to warrant taking a proper diving course; heck, a badly executed rush ascent from 10 feet can burst a lung....

GET CERTIFIED!!!!!!! Anytime you spend time below the water, you are taking a risk. Even 20 feet. I am a certified open water diver and have been diving for 30 years. I still take the same precautions I learned back then. I personally do not like the whole SNUBA thing as it leads to false confidence. There is a reason you must take classes to be certified. 20 feet may not seem like much, but it can be in an emergency. Masks may get torn off by another diver, regulators may get stuck, the system can fail... all of these and more can lead to panic. If you are a trained diver panic can set in as well, but you should remember your training and settle down right away. Untrained persons can die. If you just want to "hang out" snorkel, less chance of death. I know this may seem harsh and not to your original post but please heed the warning. I read all the time about rookie divers getting into trouble.Sometimes even veterans as well. Besides the view is great when you do not have a cord.
