I've loved my BF50 but my boat can handle the extra power and since it's a jet and the 75 and the 90 are the same I'd go for the 90.

Anyone know what MSRP is?
Would you guys sell an existing outboard outright or trade in?
Are first year models as poor as they are in automobiles?

Hmmmm...hard parts over, I've got a preliminary okey dokey from the wife.

There are quite a few differences between the 70 and 90. It appears that they share the same block and overall configuration. The 90 has a different head with camshafts that sport variable lift (similar to BMW's new design) and integrated manifolds. The cooling system is different and the engine electronics are different.

Nothing really scares me here but the first year model situation, although the price probably should....?

I know it would be hard to change brands and the Hondas are fine motors with a sofisticated design.and a good reputation.
Look at this change as an opertunity to explore other technology. You should really give the Etec a look.I'm pretty sure it is available in a jet and the etec has an excellent track record.Their exhaust particulate rating is much much lower than any 4 stroke motor. And performace is every bit as good and said to be better.I think if you check maintenance intervals the etec has fewer and less expensive.
I'm no expert but I think other brands may be making similar 2 strokes even now maybe someone here knows
if any other new developements are in the works.

Thanks Spike, there's a few E-Tec's running the Sacramento River.
Outboard jets by design have the exaust exiting above water level on plane.
The E-Tec's are the absolute loudest outboards on the river. They sound real cool as they go by, but dang they are ear splitting.

Just out of curiosity I checked Ed's and they have 90 jet remote 4-s Yamahas at 6999.

No deer here this year but am going to Co in a couple weeks so still a chance. Good luck on that special hunt and the new Honda8)

I wonder if those Etecs are as loud as the old Mark 25s with a howler exhaust? They sounded like they were next to you from across the water. And I think they used to run against the Champion Hot Rod which purred like a kitten.
