For some reason, that method eliminates some status updates too, probably a glitch.

I know. They really messed it up. I now click both of these to get all the stuff people are posting. Might be good if you are a teenager and have 1000 friends but for most of us, the old way was fine.

Yep, I agree.
Also, if you just check status, and photo updates, you miss page and group updates, which are important to some of us.

Their last big "update" made people raise hell for a little while, then they adapted quickly.
This change, I can see no good reason WHY they did that, unless they are trying to up their page hit count or something. Probably something like that, motivated by greed.
