Just curious if anyone is routinely running a Briggs 4 stroke outboard?
Anyone heard first hand of a great success or failure? Performance compared to a typical ,say, Evinrude 5hp.Speed?hole shot? repair issues?etc. etc.

My brother, who is in Arizona has one for his small Zodiac. He likes it, but says it is pretty noisy. It's just an air cooled lawnmower engine.

I see a few on our HP restricted reservoir. Loud as all heck.

I ran an 8h.p. briggs electric start riding mower engine on a 10h.p. lower unit . Ran it on a 14 foot wooden skiff problem free for three years after I built it, it would plane comforatably on calmer days and got good gas mileage trolling for rock fish, putt, putt, putt, a little noisy though. I wish I hadn't sold it with boat.
I've got a 12h.p. Electric Start Briggs in the barn, if I can ever find another lower unit I plan to build another one sometime.

max!
