I just watched the episode of "Pawn Stars" where the son buys a boat. Here's how it's portrayed on the show. Guy pulls up to the pawn shop with this boat. It's a 1984 Chris Craft 28' twin V8 cuddy cabin go fast. The interior and exterior look to be in excellent condition but there's problems with one of the outdrives and one of the motors. The guy goes on about how Chris Craft is the premium brand and it's a classic yada yada and wants $20k for it. The pawn show guy gives him $16,500. The pawn shop guy takes it to his boat repair guy who agrees that it's a classic and will be worth $30k all fixed up. Boat repair guy makes $4k worth of repairs and reconditioning on it. Show ends with them cruising off in this boat all fixed up celebrating because they have $20k into a $30k boat.
This is how I see it. Chris Craft is a premium brand but an '84 glass boat is an '84 glass boat. Maybe a little extra value because of the name. The drives looked OMC to me although they could possibly be Volvo. In the non-working condition it was in I figure the pawn shop overpaid by at least double. After their investment in reconditioning and repairs it was immaculate but I still think it would only be worth $20k at the most. I think no way they're getting $30k out of that boat.
