Hello,

So, have you? Was it homemade or do you know what make?

I'd like to be able to lower the bimini to just above the windshield when it starts to rain (kind of like a "convertible" top that snaps to the top of windshield).

So far I haven't found anyone that makes them and can think of three ways to make it work, maybe?

1. Use *two* sets of vertical deck mounts mounted to the inside face of the boat sides. One set high, one set low and move from one to the other as needed. The problem I see right away with this is that the width of the bimini would need to be narrower than if it was mounted to the top of the gunwale.

2. Use one set of jaw slide mounts mounted as in #1 and have the main bow of the bimini slide up and down through this. Loosen jaw and lower top.

3. Mount a slider track vertically on the inside like #1 and use one set of hinges that can slide up and down in that track.

Any comments and or ideas are appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Anyone Seen a Height Adjustable Bimini

The Bimini on my Seaswirl has a zippers on the front, back, and sides. I had a Bimini extention put on the back of my boat at a canvas shop in Dayton. Both my wife and I have fair complexions and don't want to get skin cancer in our old age. The extension cost $650 or so, but was a great bargain. No sun burns this summer!

I was told he could do a foul-weather windscreen that attaches to the front for a little more than $300.

come up with something like an extendable paint roller pole. with a clinch nut. then patent it. or an adjustable pole that has the holes in it, with the spring button, or just a clevis pin.

The only adjustable height bimini that I have seen was the "Bimini Butler" from Ameri-Brand products.

I think TD nailed it with his suggestions. Use like a tent pole with the holes and a spring button for the uprights, also might have to make straps with more adjustability. Don't know if the poles with the holes would be strong enough in alum. but stainless would probably be fine.

I actually have one of those Bimini Butlers sitting right in front of me right now. I bought it last year and never used it because the Bimini that I bought with it turned out to be tall enough without it. When I went to return it, they told me that instead of returning it just to hold it and when they got their next order for it they would have me ship it to that person. Anyway, I forgot what happened but it never got taken care of and has been sitting in my office ever since. The price from them is 39.95 plus 12.50 for shipping, I will let you have it for $25 including shipping. PM me if you want it.
