I haven't seen the ad, but does it show a crowded, public ramp? Anyone waiting around? When no one is waiting, there's no harm. At one ramp I sometimes use, there are hoses on the ramp so you can wash and flush and the water runs down the ramp instead of making puddles. Not a bad set-up when no one is blocked.
Also, when you launch without sinking your axle, you usually want the boat to be unloaded of heavy gear such as coolers, so you can't preload.
There is no "one size fits all" for boating.
