Anyone seen this before?

Hey guys

When I went to take 8 bolts out to get the powerhead off this 1 bolt was a PITA to turn and broke off. Ive since then welded some length to it and got it out with vise grips. When I got it out I noticed a small hole from what it looks like when they bored the hole for the bolt in the block or the casting was off and they made a hole leading into the exhaust chamber into the one power head bolt hole.

And I think its what made this bolt the hardest to get out and why it broke off. Either constant heat hitting the bolt or years of carbon built up in the threads and tip of the bolt. It did have a bunch of crap on the threads when I took it out.

2 questions for everyone...

1) Now has anyone come across something like this before?

2) What should I do when I go to reinstall? Seal the hole up and how? Or never sieze the crap outta the bolt and just insert the bolt with the hole left open?

Can't really tell what I'm looking at there. So that hole is connecting the bolt hole with the exhaust chamber, and nothing else? If that is true, then I would just goop the threads thoroughly and let it go. Lots of powerhead bolts intersect with water or exhaust chambers on various models. Not the best situation, but hey that's life.

Thank you F_R

Ill just goop the threads. You mean with never seize?

It must have been why that bolt gave me the most trouble to take out. Too coincidental ya know? Even torqued down you think the exhaust can slowly leak threw the threads?
