Hi everybody,
Just a comment, when checking condition of fuel primer bulb I pulled the inlet side fuel line off bulb and found the line is starting to disintegrate from the inside. This is the genuine Merc line supplied with motor (3 yrs old), it appears to be a grey PVC type with a clear liner, and the clear liner has hardened and is starting to break up and clog up line. The problem only seems to be where the line loops up at the highest point coming from the fuel/water separator through to the outboard well about 6" - 8", this is probably where the line could have an air space when boat is sitting unused for a period.

I think I have accounted for all the pieces, as I hadn't started the engine since I fitted a new internal filter to motor 2 weeks ago. This must be a good indication of what damage the new fuel can do, apart from hardening at the connections never had this happen to my old fuel lines when I was using leaded petrol in my old Merc. I would have thought the newer type lines should be more resistant to this problem, I will replace all the line from separator to motor tomorrow and give it a good flush out before connecting to motor.

Just thought it might be a good place for others to check if they seem to have any fuel problems, as it would definitely restrict fuel flow to motor.

Bob
