Just trying to find out if anyone knows where I could find a bow cover. It makes it nice for the kids, when going at speed on the lake. I had one a long time ago, but it was messed up and trashed 4-5 years ago.

Not sure how to find a replacement, figured it is worth asking here.

Thanks,
Bryan

The best way is to find a local shop that makes them. Call any Marine shop and they'll probably be able to help.

Have you tried Bayliner?

Why do I always have to do all the work for you guys? CoverSearch Click it!

Oh the bow part not the whole boat. Guess I just can't read either.

You could sew your own pretty easily.

Realgun,
I did search for Bow Cover, and a few othber items, didn't find them. Thats why I posted, lol. I do try to search for sure, before I ask, so I don't get the Search first from someone screaming at me.

Trust me, I know how it is, having to do all the work. I do Tech support and have my own forums for work, I get the same things over and over and over, so I understand.

Rubberfrog, what chain store did you find this cover at? I have looked online at Overtons, Boatersworld, West Marine, Cabella, and can't find anything that seems to match or come close.

I was thinking about getting an Upholstry shop to make one for me. Do you have any clue as to what type of Fabric it should be? I think it was a thick canvas that was on the original, but that thing had ripped all up and shrunk so I had trashed it, now I wish had Kept it.

Thanks for all the help guys,
Bryan

IMHO the good thing about having one custom made is that you then have a relationship when you need repairs or improvements added to your cover. I use a full custom tow cover because we haul the boat over 200 miles for almost every trip, and I carry a lot of junk along in the boat. I need their services for seam repairs, strap additions and wear point strengthening . . . Find a shop that is familiar with this application ;)

This is a C & P from here:

reviews.ebay.com/SUNBRELLA-FABRIC-Myths-vs-Facts_W0QQugidZ10000000000015509 (direct link not posted on purpose ;) )

For Marine applications, Sunbrella makes the Sunbrella-PLUS-8400 Marine series 60"-wide; the "Plus" is the added urethane repellency treatment added to it by Sunbrella. The objective is to repel water and moisture from collecting, yet continue to breathe, so that moisture isn't trapped and creating an annual mildew problem. Regular Sunbrella will allow too much moisture through, when used for mooring covers (a very common and costly mistake). Since they look very similar, the only way to know you are getting Sunbrella-Plus is by its Color Number (It Begins with the number 84... ), and hope you are dealing with an honest vendor. It is available in the most popular marine colors.

Glad to hear that. I have just ordered one of the Sunbrella Bimini tops, today from Overtons, so I have been reading up on the Sunbrella material.

I really just need the Bow cover for pulling the boat to the lake, as it definetly used to help with the trailering. I only have about 20 miles to go to the lake, so its not to far, just all hwy driving at about 60-70mph. The trailer seems to get really swirley (sp) back there at about 68mph, so I keep it below that. I was hoping that the cover on the bow would help deflect the wind up over the Windshield and cause it to handle better on the hwy.

Thanks,
Bryan

It may help the sway, but I think the sway is probably more about tongue weight . . .

Aslo, I have never used snap-in covers, but I boat and tow with a guy that has and he has had trouble with snaps coming loose at highway speeds. Once one goes, then it starts to pop others. Has not been a problem when new, but as the cover stretches out he ends up with an issue. Good luck.

Hi Bry21317,

I have a '88 Bayliner Capri w/ Force 125 also.
I ordered a complete 5 piece set a couple of years ago in pacific blue, from "Leta's Top Shop" in Washington. Leta was very helpful and the work was very professional and clean. I think the bow was $135.00.

Letas Top Shop
19431 Burn Road
Arlington, WA 98223
360-435-3067
http://www.letastopshop.com/

Regards, Kevin

Re: Anyone tell me where to find a replacement Bow cover-88 Bayliner 1950 Capri

I purchased a few yards of sunbrella fabric and sewed my own bow and cockpit covers. Cost me a total of just over $200, including snaps, thread, and needles. Made the new ones using the old as a template. Took me a full Saturday, including placing the snaps. It was pretty easy, I used a 30 year old Sears sewing machine with a "denim" needle (well, maybe about 4 needles, as I kept getting impatient and "pushed" the fabric through the machine too hard a few times).

Before:

After:

Re: Anyone tell me where to find a replacement Bow cover-88 Bayliner 1950 Capri

My 1991 Bayliner 2050 Capri bowrider had a new "replacement" bow cover when I bought it. Looking through the invoices the customer left with the boat it looks like the customer bought the bow cover from the dealer I bought my boat from. So, I'm willing to bet if you got to a Bayliner dealer, they could order one for you. It might be a little more expensive, but at least you know it will be right.
