Anyone tried a newer Honda 15hp 4 stroke on a 430? Ok or waste of time?

I can get a super deal on a nearly new Honda BF15 - it has 4 blade prop and high displacement.

Will this motor plane a 430 SIB with 2 adults and 2 young kids? I really like the Honda features and it is quiet and easy to tilt, trim, etc. Or will it be an exercise in frustration?

I've got a 4m Honwave Alu floor (85 kg) and Honda BF20 is perfect.
You can get 20 knots with 2 adults + 2 children on calm sea.

BF15 has the same weight as BF20 rated 20HP (same motor block), but has 25% more power (on top revs).

Weight is an issue for me. Even BF20 (lighter 20HP 4stroke in the market) is rather heavy to mount-dismount. Fortunately I just move it twice: summer season start and end. I use an outboard trolley to move, service and winter it.

A 15 HP mounted on a 430 sib is not only a waist of time but also money, will push along but not plane unless alone, that size works perfectly well with a 30 HP, will get the max out of that ideal configuration, try to get a Tohatsu 2 strokes if available in your area.

Happy Boating

I ran a Honda 20 on a 4.2m sib for a few years. It worked well, but always felt it would have been better with more power when I had a full load. Now run a Honda 30 on a 4.2m hypalon sib. Great!
