Any one use PVC under your boat cover or tarp?? When I cover the boat because of rain I have to have the bow raised all the way up so water doesn't accumulate on the broad section of the tarp on the back of the boat, which then flattening the front/bow and water accumlates and stretches the tarp even worse from the weight of the water, so I stick a pole under it to keep water from building up. Any one use PVC under your cover to keep water from accumulating? Open to suggestions!! I used to use the thin boat covers to allow to breath and those are worse, $50.00 at wally world.

The sale support poles that go under the tarp, I had one but it didnt last but one season before it broke(plastic), now i just tie a length of rope from the front of the boat to the stern right down the middle, throw the cover on and it works well for me.

I use pvc pipe to hold up my cover. I have a bass boat and i put one pole in the hole for the front seat and one pole in the hole for the back seat i then conect to two with a third pole suported in the middle with a 4th pole. It takes 2 seconds to put in and take out. It works well for me.

A PVC tarp support is probably the most common do-it-yourself tarp support system on this forum. Lots of members have made them, myself included.

My supports were made from two upside down T sections, with a cross piece between. The T's were glued up permanent, the cross piece just presses on with two 90's. Once the tarp is on and the bungies pull it tight, it is very strong. Don't be afraid to make it as high as you can to assist with rain (and/or snow) runoff. Made mine out of 2" PVC.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!!
Mark42 you used 2" PVC?? I am with you as far as your discription T's and 90's
would't 2" be a little big? would the one inch with the T's and 90* be easier for me to bend on my little boat??

I made a 18ft long sawhorse- 18" high one end 36" the other. worked great-easy to build and cheap.

The PVC doesn't have to bend, its supposed to be rigid and sit inside the boat so the tarp goes over it like a big saw horse. It makes a tent shape so water/snow runs off.

I have a light stand from an old set of halogen work lights that I re-purposed into a prop for the cover. Took the lights off- they were broken anyway- and I use the horizontal light bar wrapped with some pipe insulation to hold the tarp up. Works well, tripod base is stable and folds up easily. Can also adjust the height.

I have a peice of 1 1/2 cut long way on top of the windshield with a 90 on each end also cut long ways. then i have one that goes from the windshield back to the motor with a 90 that goes into the well. holds up in a good rain storm. Not a puddle on it. Not sure about snow, as it never seen snow and never will.
