I have the gray marine stuff from Lowes. I like it a lot. It comes by the foot off a 6' wide roll. It's nice looking, has a rubbery backing, and doesn't snag hooks.

I bought the 6 foot wide for the bunks. It is the only thing that sheds worse than my son's dog. The shedding is only along the cuts. I would say forget seaming this stuff; it ain't going to happen.
When I redo, I will go with the regular indoor outdoor stuff.
I've got some fairly old looking blue outdoor carpet on the bunks of my 245's trailer. That's how it came when I acquired it last fall. Don't know how long it's been there, but it seems to be OK. One spot where it was seamed it is unravelling a bit though.
The marine stuff is 100% Olefin. Indoor outdoor is usually Olefin with a different backing. I suspect as long as you stay with 100% man made you will pretty good.
I used the grey and the maroon from Lowes, two years and still looks great. A PITA to vacuum but I keep it covered when not using boat to keep dirt, leaves and U.V. off of it.
Picked some carpet from Lowes it was outdoor carpeting a bit swanky for marine carpet. Its held up since 2008 remarkably well....Far better than actual marine carpet.
I also just put some of the Lowes marine grade carpet in my boat....brown....rubber backed. Came out very nice...and fairly easy to work with Good luck...!
