Vensura's are expensive prop's, you might be better off with a Enertia for that money. However you can go to a Solas Titan with there new Rubex hub system, for all account's it's a dead knock off of the Vensura. http://www.solas.com/products/propeller/oem_brands/Brand.asp?FkindNo=F22&SkindNo=S07&PdKd=SS

Re: Anyone using a mercury vensura

Had a Vensura last year. Very heavy, I could really feel the clunk when shifting into gear. But, it had an awesome grip; very smooth, lowered the planing speed by a few mph, but also lowered the top end speed by the same (compared to three-blade Stilettos, Turbos, and even the alu Black Max). So, depending on what you're after, the Vensura might be perfect, or the Enertia, or any other prop... :)

Re: Anyone using a mercury vensura

I will say this much a 4 blade stilletto on that boat will make it like a high tourqe slot car, i wouldnt pay to much attention to the 4 blade will lose you top end stuff. I had a three blade still and it only cost me 1 mph and the 4 blade far outweighed the 3 blade. Ask RCconstruction how much diff a 4 blade stilletto made over a 3 blade alum.

Actually a 22 pitch Enerita should be the end all prop for that boat, but it seem's that once you go beyond a 17 pitch in that prop, it get's a little fuzzy, i read quite a few commentary's on that issue dont know if there valid or not......... WH can you elaborate on this wild speculation...........

Gunner,
I have an 14.5x19 aluminum volvo prop on here now my top speed is 48 (GPS)
at 4700 RPMS (with me the wife and 2 kids) the engine is good from 46-4800 So your saying go UP in pitch with the Enerita?
I want the MPH around 50 but lower planing speed and better holeshot.
Thanks,

Re: Anyone using a mercury vensura

1. how many hour's on the motor
2. are you sure your tach is right ( you might want to check it prop's are big money)***

The reason i am asking is i have a 186 with the GI motor not the GXI which should have more power, and it will turn a 19 alum to 50 mph @ 4950 rpm . May i ask when you run @ wot do you ever hear a very slight miss to tick in the engine....it is very breif..almost unoticable

1. I have around 40hr. on the boat
2. I think it on.
It was out in the gulf so the water was not as flat as a lake.
I think it had a little more in it but my kids were telling me to
slow down. I have never heard a tick or miss I'll check again
this weekend.

Re: Anyone using a mercury vensura

40 Hour's mean's a really green motor, it might loosen up with time. I do not know how much boating experience you have so forgive me asking the question, you are trimming out the drive for maxium speed and rpm......that is extending the drive out until the prop lose's grip or your mph goes down and your rpm goes up....

I am also assuming your gearing is 1.66, pretty std but different gearing is out there.. I am not implying a pitch as of now to many thing's are unknown, but the enertia should yeild top speed and very good bite. Also the Stilletto Bay pro 11 are a very strong prop they really have a lot of stern lift so much so it has become annoying for the type of boating i do, and they sacrafice very little speed on that type of boat.

I have a buddy with a rev 4 on the shelf, i should ask him if i can run the thing and see what a bow lifting prop does on this boat...

Re: Anyone using a mercury vensura

Thanks again guys
Gunner,
I did play with the trim, on a lake I went 47 with 4 adults and 4 kids so
I think it will do 50 on a good day and the drive is 1.60. Do you think
I should go down to a 17 pitch Enerita?

That is about 1200 lbs which is max capacity for that boat and it turned 47 mph do you remeber the rpm? Id run it by your self and see just how high the speed and rpm's turn..........1200 lbs is a pretty heavy load, is this something you see yourself doing quite often?

That much weight will make a differnce...maybe as much as 2" of pitch

I was turning 4400rpms I would say the weight was around 1000 lbs,
and my max capacity is 9 or 1400lbs. 75% of the time it is just me
the wife and 2 kids. I want get the correct pitch for this.

That is what i would do prior to any purchase, take a run in that boat by yourself and see what speed and rpm it can do. Listen close for any misses, or very slight hesitation's while @ wot.

To many conflict's or variable's for now,
