I just bought an Apache boat motor made by Clinton Machine Company out of Clinton Mich. There is no horse power marked and would like to get as much information on this moter as possible like gas/oil mixture, horsepower, year, etc. It has Md. J7 Serial #37306 Type No. 10-13-7-0-4-5

http://discount-marine-parts.com/ob_clinton_1.html
I've got a J8 5hp; it takes 16:1 fuel/oil mix. Several posts on here I've seen suggest to use chainsaw 2-cycle oil instead of normal marine oil. Make sure to to use the chainsaw bar lube by the way. I use 8oz per gallon of normal 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil for lawnmowers and such with no problems so far. A good place to get parts is Webbs out in California @ 831-475-1020. They were able to get me points and condensor with no problem. Also somewhere on here is the number for Clinton motors they are still kind of in business.

Chainsaw bar lube??

I hope that is just an inappropriate attempt at humor.

Your motor is a 1957 5hp model. Mix is 8oz to the gal. Your motor is basicly the same as Pardners.

Thanks for all your help and I got it running and runs great but the connector to the motor leaks and it is letting air in. Where can I find that connector from the gas line that attaches to the motor?

Hi Fisher
I don't recall the type connector used. You may find the correct type at a marine store. If not they will probably have another you can adapt to your motor. This would require replacing both sides. You might even be able to repair the connector you have. Maybe just replacing an 0-ring ? Funny, I spen a lot of time hunting up the correct size and type of o-rings. It really irks when all I need to fix something is one darn little piece of rubber that don't cost a hole dime and I can't find one. I keep as wide a selection on hand as I can, but it's never enough.
