Applying epoxy after vinylester resin hull repair

I have patched the hull with chopped strand mat and unwaxed vinyl ester resin. My next step is to replace the stringers with 1708 and epoxy. Before I put down the epoxy, I wanted to confirm that I will need to do a final coat with wax added for a final "cure".

Otherwise, can I just lay down the epoxy and keep going.

Forget the wax, it's not needed. Let it cure and sand the surface, then normal prep. Why are you going with epoxy for the rest?

Esp when you've already gotten good advice in the 1st patch topic I linked above.

And that topic covers why epoxy. But not why vinyl ester.

If you're using epoxy then using 1708 is a waste of money IMHO. It will just soak up a LOT more resin and give back very little benefit. I'd recommend using 17oz biax glass.

Thanks I will keep the questions related to this boat in one project...

I must be inhaling too much resin fumes because I didn't realize that advice post was for a wooden boat. Yes, this is for the fiberglass boat I am currently working on.

I am using epoxy for the stringers because I already bought that before I knew the inside of the hull needed so much patchwork.

I haven't noticed the dogs around lately but the neighborhood teenagers keep hanging outside my garage for some reason. Seriously though, the odor has not been too bad if I do it in small sections.

Like already mentioned, skip the CSM when using epoxy, since you already have the epoxy mixing the two in this fashion isn't an issue.
