AQ 170 cooling system drain plugs

I hooked up my recently purchased boat with a AQ170 motor in it, to a garden hose for the first time this year and discovered that the previous owner left the drain plug out on the oil cooler for winterization. I'm not sure if there are other plugs missing either.

I can't seem to locate the plug, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. does any one have any photos of one?

Will a regular pipe fitting plug work? If so what size? Or is it a volvo specific plug that has metric threads?

TIA

Well that's good, cause I've located about that many similar plugs that look like some thing that you would find on the bottom of a air compressor tank.

Maybe I just had the wrong one that I was trying.

Re: AQ 170 cooling system drain plugs

After searching the Volvo site I have been able to locate the drain plug locations.

I have identified the following.

oil cooler bottom
Engine water pump bottom (not raw water)
Engine exhaust mainfold rear under square plate and front near water induction
Engine block rear under manifold.

The problem is that 6 drains are mentioned above, and I have located 5 plugs that were in a cubby hole in the boat, and 5 locations by looking at the drawings. Motor is a AQ170C

Is there another plug in the block that I'm missing, or could have been left in?

Well, I found the last plug.

Unfortunately it was still in the engine block.

I hooked up water and prayed that I would luck out, but unfortunately I have a frost plug that is toast.

Can anyone tell me how hard they are to replace, and if I need to take it into a repair shop?

I hope the block it self is not cracked. I don't think it is as even with the broked frost plug, I don't have any oil in the crank case.
