Where is the intake and output of the water cooling system on a Bayliner Trophy AQ125a . I do not notice much water coming out of the engine when I run it with my muffs on the vent holes on the lower .

Check your raw water pump impeller. If ok, the water neck that connects the outdrive to the boat with the smaller hose is probably sucking air. It often looks good on the outside but corroded on the inside.

does the cooling system suck water through the lower unit or through holes on the hull near the lower unit?

Gets lake water from those holes on the lower unit. There may be a drain hole below those on the botttom side that needs to be plugged when running on muffs.

My AQ125a never would suck water from the muffs. It is fine in the water.
I've since added a water hose connection just before the copper line to the raw water pump to run on land.

Try it in the water and I suspect it'll be fine, again mine never worked with muffs. I don't know why.

On the 270 drives, there is a small pick up hole/drain hole on the front of the drive just above the skeg that needs to be plugged if running on muffs. Or do what i do and grab a rain barrel cut down or a rubber maid tote and dunk the drive.
